“Work smarter, not harder” so the saying goes!!
I’m trying to work out what this might mean for me as we adjust to ministry without Ian Dredge and Simon Keith.
I need to ensure that I keep “the main thing, the main thing”. That is, I need to ensure that I can concentrate on the priorities of being a Bible teacher and an enabler of ministry. This is all the more important now that we have a different staff make up.
So that I can give of myself to the “word and prayer” (Acts 6), I’ve resigned as area dean of the Sunshine Coast, resigned from the council of St Andrew’s College and I’m no longer a Diocesan nominator. Except for the CMS summer school (which I attended in January) and the annual clergy conference in August (compulsory), I’m not attending any other conferences or retreats this year.
I’ve also decided I need to cut down on some administration. Marg Hansen has agreed to help take on some of the admin which falls outside Fiona’s regular duties and I’m going to trial publishing this NEWS sheet just once a month instead of weekly. This means a little more reliance on email communication, so please check with Fiona that we have your updated email address and that you receive the e-news each Sunday night.
Because we don’t have a pastor at Peregian, I need to get there more regularly, although we are very grateful to God for Gary McClellan as our interim pastor there.
I am also keen to equip a small team that could help with pastoral visiting, so we can ensure adequate care for those who are unwell or struggling. Please let me know if this could be you!
