Home Communion
What is Home Communion and Who Is It For?
Home Communion is a Holy Communion Service for people who are otherwise unable to attend church due to sickness or incapacity.
Where Does It Take Place?
The service is performed in the home or local hospital by either the Priest or a licensed Liturgical Assistant. Home communion also takes place in a number of retirement and nursing homes in the Noosa area at the following times and locations:
1st Tuesday of the month – Laguna Retirement Village – 10:30am in the library
2nd Tuesday of the month – Ozcare – 10:30am in the chapel
3rd Tuesday of the month – Carramar – 10:30am in the lounge
The Noosa Parish conducts home communions in the area from Sunshine Beach to Tinbeerwah.
What Happens In a Home Communion?
A home communion starts with prayers, followed by a Gospel reading. The Holy Communion itself is then taken, with the partaking of bread (communion wafer) and if the Priest is present, wine. The most recent pew slip (mini church newsletter) along with any recent church literature is also provided.
How To Arrange a Home Communion
To arrange a home communion contact the church office.
Out of office hours, urgent enquiries should be directed to the Priest.
