Nepal Orphanage

dscf2978.JPGThree years ago a local missionary, Ian Farrington became a member of our Church family, bringing with him his great love of the Nepalese people and news about an orphanage that he had been involved in establishing in Kathmandu with 20 children.

On the 5th of July 2004 a decision was made to financially support this orphanage and in 2005 a group from our Church family visited the orphanage. Since then we have further increased our support of each of the child through individual sponsorship by members of the Church family.

dscf2962.JPGThe Church provides a monthly financial contribution to the orphanage which covers accommodation and everyday expenses.

We as a Church family have raised a total of $80,000 which has been used to purchase land in Daktapur where we will build a new school, orphanage and chapel for our children. Our vision is to enable our Nepalese children to become self-sufficient and actively contribute to the future of Nepal. An additional $39,000 was raised through a fund raising event which will enable the project to be completed.

This year an exciting new venture has begun with our young Church members forming a new group ‘Youth for Nepal’ with the intent of building bridges between Australia and Nepal during a mission trip during 2008.
