Introductory Groups

Throughout the year the Anglican Church of Noosa runs two courses for new members of the Church family:

Alpha

Alpha is a twelve week course where we look at the most frequently asked questions about Christianity. Alpha is accepted by Christian denominations throughout the world as a highly respected way to ask questions and seek answers to the meaning of life. The highlight of the course is a weekend away where we explore the holy spirit through teaching, discussion and fellowship.

Visit the Alpha web site to find out more.

The Journey

The Journey is a time when we listen to and share each others Christian journeys and life experiences. The Journey is an ideal follow on to the Alpha course.

There are four stages to the Journey:

  • The gathering stage - where the church family identifies people seeking baptism, confirmation reaffirmation.
  • The enquiry stage - Where people come with their questions. It is a stage of personal and spiritual story sharing.
  • The formation stage - where we explore aspects of Christianity, the Old Testament, New Testament, Church history, the liturgical calendar, who is God, the beginning of the Church, the Church as a worshiping and teaching commuinity, Jesus at Christmas, and the sacraments of the Church.
  • The journey stage - From Ash Wednesaday through to Easter the journey becomes more intense and in depth. There is a focus on preparing for baptism, confirmation, or reaffirmation, the roots of prayer and the diversitry and power of prayer.
  • The reflection stage - From Easter to Pentecost we share and reflect on the Easter experience.
