It is with great thanks to God and the assurance that He has overseen this appointment, that we announce that the Rev Simon Keith has accepted the Archbishop’s invitation and will commence with us on Sunday 25th March as our “Children’s ministry leader”. Simon grew up in Sydney in a Christian family and knows first-hand the positive influence godly parents and grandparents can have. After studying languages at uni, he worked in fraud investigation for a bank. While living in England for a year, he fell into the recruitment industry, in which he met his future wife Heather. Around this time he also felt the call to full time ministry. After theological training, he was ordained in the Armidale Diocese, serving as curate in Inverell, and is currently vicar of Moonbi-Kootingal parish, where he has a particular passion for introducing children and their families to Jesus. Simon and Heather have three wonderful children: Aidan (8), Claudia (6), and Leo (4). They are excited about starting their Queensland adventure and can’t wait to meet us.
Simon’s main focus in this role will be children (Prep to Grade 7) not youth (grades 8-12). We have called the role “children’s ministry leader” to remind us that he is not here so that we can stop doing children’s work while he does it all, but rather to lead us in this work so that it might grow and flourish.
Please join us in praising God for this appointment – and for the special gift which has made it possible. It will be SO exciting to see how the Lord uses the remarkable circumstances surrounding this appointment for his great glory and honour here.
